Put 2 PDF pages on one sheet

Two-up is the setting that halves your paper without costing you anything you can read: each page keeps roughly A5 size on an A4 sheet, which is the size a paperback is printed at. It is the right choice for a document you will actually read on paper, as opposed to one you are filing. This page opens the tool already set to two.

How to put 2 PDF pages on one sheet

  • Add the PDF you want to lay out two-up.
  • It is already set to 2 per sheet — pick the sheet size and orientation.
  • Download the new PDF, with two original pages on every sheet.

This runs in your browser. The file is not uploaded, there is no account to create, and nothing is added to the document you download.

Questions about 2 Pages Per Sheet

Will the text still be readable at 2 pages per sheet?

Yes. Two A4 pages on one A4 sheet leaves each at about A5 — the size a paperback is set at — so ordinary body text stays comfortable to read. It is four-up and beyond where you start needing good eyes.

Should the sheet be landscape or portrait?

Landscape for two-up, which is what this opens on: the two pages sit side by side and each keeps its proportions. Portrait stacks them one above the other, which works but wastes more of the sheet.

Does this change the file, or just how it prints?

It makes a new PDF that really is laid out two-up, so it prints that way from any printer and any device — no print-dialogue setting to remember, and nothing that gets lost when you e-mail it to someone else.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened, changed and written by this browser tab — it is never sent to a server, so there is no queue to wait in and nothing to delete afterwards. Once the page has loaded you can turn the network off and the tool still works.
